How to internalise each character
This is the recommended routine the app is built around: keep a notebook beside you and let HSK 1 Lan guide you at every step, for each radical and word you learn.

Read the origin, build a story
Open the character in the app and read its origin and the curiosity calmly. Then try to tie the origin and the curiosity to the shape of the character, or build a little story that helps you connect them.

Trace it and say it out loud
Tap the button to see the stroke order, and the audio button to hear how it's pronounced. Then write it while you repeat the sound out loud.

Write the pinyin, paying attention to the tone
Next to the character, write the pinyin (its phonetic transcription), putting special emphasis on the tone, because learning the tone from the start makes it much easier to communicate out loud later on.

Add the translation
Write the translation next to the pinyin, so the character, its sound and its meaning all sit together on the same line.

Use it in a sentence
Underneath, build a sentence using this word. It's a good idea to also reuse words you've already learned, to practise combining them and so you don't forget them.
